Halloween Fun

We love Halloween. Robby has been talking for an entire year what he'd be. He has changed many times from Batman to Spiderman to Buzz back to Spiderman, but once we got the costumes ready he was stuck! Our friends had a Buzz custom they let us borrow and Nate was Woody, which was easy because Robby was Woody when he was 2 so I had most everything for his costume. Though, Nate would have liked to be Buzz too.

We had a field trip with Robby's preschool class a few weeks ago. It was a lot of fun. Robby kept running off with his friends, I don't think he cared at all that I was there. At least Nate did! I asked Robby if I could sit with him on the hay ride he said, "No, I'd rather sit with my friends." Guess I'm already uncool! Everyone got to take home a little pumpkin. We even bought more pumpkins afterward because they were super super cheap!
Robby and Nathan had a Halloween party the Friday before. We invited all the Sunbeams to come. We had 9 kids show up, plus my 2, it was crowded in our little place. We had a lot of fun. We had ghost bean bag toss, bowling, dancing, pin the heart on the skeleton and a bat pinata. Here is Robby and Nathan before the party.

For Family Home Evening we carved our pumpkins. Look at those faces! They were completely discussed with the pumpkin guts. I was laughing so hard at their reactions. When I told them it was fine Robby got a spoon and got 1 seed out and was proud of himself. When I stuck my hands in and pulled out strings they were done!
Halloween night didn't go as we had planned. We picked dad up at 5, went home to get dinner, we had trunk or treat at the church at 6 then we going to go around the neighborhood. But unfortunately, poor little Nathan tripped in the garage when we got home from picking up daddy. Head first into a milk create, blood instantly streaming all down his face. It was hard to get him to let us clean it and compress it. Once we were able to, we could tell it was far deeper than a normal cut. John called his doctors office but they give a after hours call service. They argued with John for 5 minutes saying their not the call service for our doctor, which we had just gotten it from the doctors answering machine, so we hung up on them and called the walk in clinic. We explained everything and they said they could probably do stitches on him. We get there then the doctor says, "yeah, he needs stitches but I don't do kids here, you have to go the ER." What, was the point of coming! We had already called and you said you could! So we go the ER. Johnny took Robby trick or treating to the houses around the hospital while I took Nate. The we had 2 male nurses, they laughed and said it was typical of that walk in clinic. They were so nice to take care of Nathan. Nathan was so brave. They put some cream on him to numb it up, which really stung. I had my ipod so we watched his favorite show, Super Why, that helped. Then they have to come back, clean that off and put more on. After 20 minutes of that the Nurse Practitioner came in and we wrapped Nate up tight, with his dog dog inside. He got 3 stitches and hardly even cried. They said his cute was too deep for the glue that they sometimes use. He'll have his stitches in for 5 days. So by the time we were done it was 8 pm. We did take Nate to 4 house on our block but he wasn't too interested at this point, though he was so excited for trick or treating beforehand. We went home and made a quick dinner and off to bed. Not the Halloween I want to relive.
His head has bruised up quite a bit. We keep ointment and a band aid on it. They said he'll have a scare for sure but to use sunscreen on it to help minimize it, which I thought was interesting. Anyways, Nate is feeling back to himself, now if only I could get him to stop trying to wrestle his brother!!

Yeah, dog dog went with him to the ER. He held him the entire time. They had to wrap him up so he wouldn't move to get his stitches in, they wrapped dog dog with him! It was cute. I don't think any dog has been as loved as that dog dog!

When I told my kids about what happened to Nathan they immediately started going through their candy to send him some. They love their little cousins!! I hope you don't mind if you get a package of some candy for him this week. :)
